John Habib
John is GBA’s Attorney for Middle East operations. His experience is summarized:
Mr. John L. Habib has an extensive background working as an Associate Attorney for several years as well as sales and management. After graduating with a BA in international relations and with a Juris Doctor Degree, Mr. Habib went on to become an Associate Attorney for nine years working for companies such as Kalbian & Associates in Washington D.C., Kirkpatrick & Lockhart in Washington, D.C., and Sacks Tierney, P.A. in Scottsdale, AZ.
After Leaving Sacks Tierney, P.A., John went on to work for Farnam Companies, Inc. starting as General Counselor where he oversaw all legal and regulatory issues, and managed the Legal and Regulatory Affairs Department, Negotiated U.S. and international asset acquisition, license, supply and distribution agreements; supervised state and federal litigation and regulatory compliance matters; and handled all intellectual property matters, including patent and trademark research, registrations and state, federal and international litigation cases. In the 5 years that John worked for Farnam Companies, Inc., he worked his way up to Vice President of Business Development where he led the strategic development of new business through acquisition and alliance activities, reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer of privately held consumer products company with revenue in excess of $160,000,000, directly managed all phases of acquisition and alliance process: from gap research and opportunity identification, to due diligence review and post-closing integration team leadership.
Following employment at Farnum Companies, Inc., Mr. Habib moved to Abu Dahbi, UAE where he currently works for Kalbian Hagerty, L.L.P. as a Managing Partner, Middle East-North Africa Practice Group. Manage all aspects of branch office of Washington, D.C.-based law firm, representing the firm before clients based in the U.A.E. and active throughout the broader MENA region, including U.A.E. governmental agencies. Practice specialization: company formation and corporate/commercial laws; distribution and agency matters; defense services and Offset regulations; real estate; employment law, and administrative and regulatory affairs.Washington D.C. headquarters has served under contract since 2001 as Outside General Counsel to the U.A.E. Embassy in Washington, D.C., representing the U.A.E. government in legal matters throughout the United States.
John graduated from Colgate University in Hamilton, NY with a BA in International Relations in May, 1985. John also graduated from Emory University in Atlanta, GA with a Juris Doctor Degree in May, 1990.
